WorldSkills is a global non-profit organization dedicated to promoting and developing professional and technical skills worldwide. Founded in 1950, this organization is based on the principle of excellence in trades and aims to inspire young people to pursue careers in specialized fields.

The main objective of WorldSkills is to promote professional excellence by organizing high-level international competitions in a wide range of trades, from construction to IT, fashion, and culinary arts. These competitions, held every two years in a different country, provide young professionals from around the world with a platform to demonstrate their skills and expertise to an international audience.

In addition to competitions, WorldSkills also offers skills development programs, educational initiatives, and partnerships with businesses and governments to promote lifelong learning and address the changing needs of the labor market.

The year 2023 marked the beginning of an extraordinary adventure for me at WorldSkills Belgium. Under the evocative title of "2023 A New World", I immersed myself in a world where talents, skills, and determination were tested like never before.

Engaged in the competition in the System Administration and Networking category, I embarked on a journey that would shape my professional future in unexpected ways. WorldSkills Belgium represented much more than just a competition; it was a unique opportunity to measure myself against the best in my field and to go beyond my limits.

Every step of this journey has been an exciting challenge, from the initial selection to the national final. I had to demonstrate unwavering determination, technical expertise, and exceptional stress management to rise to the top. And in November 2023, standing on the podium, adorned with the gold medal, I savored the fruit of my efforts.

However, it was not the end of the story. On the contrary, it was the beginning of a new chapter in my journey at WorldSkills. As I prepare for a new year in 2024, I am determined to consolidate my skills, push my limits, and aim higher.
My goal? To participate in the EuroSkills 2025.

This new year brings new challenges, new opportunities, and new encounters. I am ready to face these challenges with even more passion and determination than before. Because in 2023, I discovered a new world at WorldSkills Belgium, and I am ready to explore all its possibilities and seize every opportunity that comes my way.

2024 is off to a flying start with an ambitious goal: to participate in the EuroSkills 2025! After a year 2023 rich in emotions and learning within WorldSkills Belgium, I am ready to surpass myself and aim for excellence. This year, I join a new team (Skills Team) and embark on a new competition with an increased level of requirement. The name of my profession has also changed, as have the skills that I will have to master.

This new challenge motivates me enormously! I am eager to discover new techniques, to meet other enthusiasts, and to fully invest myself in this adventure. My main objective is clear: to give my best to reach EuroSkills and proudly represent Belgium in the System Administration category.

This year 2024 promises to be exciting and full of challenges. I am determined to seize every opportunity that comes my way and to progress to achieve my ultimate goal.

Here we are again! For my second year of Belgian national competition, the excitement and stress are skyrocketing as Startech's Days approaches. Change of scenery this year: heading to the Wex in Marche-en-Famenne, a huge venue that promises to welcome a crowd of visitors...

Upon arrival, I was impressed by the scale of the event. The Wex is gigantic, and the atmosphere is electric! We were told to expect 10,000 visitors, but the numbers exploded, reaching over 10,500 people. The excitement in the aisles, the lively stands, the impressive demonstrations... It was incredible!

The competition was shaping up to be tough this year. There were 6 of us candidates, and more than half of us were at an excellent level. The pressure was palpable. The level of requirement was much higher than last year, with almost zero margin for error. To top it off, we had to face a brand new module, never before seen at the national final!

During the competition, our workstation was located near other trades in full swing. Imagine the incessant noise of the machines, the lively conversations, the constant coming and going of visitors... Not easy to stay focused in such an environment! Keeping focus while dozens of people pass within two meters of you, with constant background noise, is a real challenge. Fortunately, I managed to create a bubble of concentration and hold on for the three days. Despite the fatigue, stress and distractions, I reached the end of the event with a smile, proud to have overcome these obstacles.

I loved participating in Startech's Days 2024. It was an intense and rewarding experience, which allowed me to surpass myself and fully experience my passion.

But the adventure is not over yet...

Here we are now the day after the competition, 7pm. The medal ceremony will begin in a moment. The stress rises one last time this year, a positive stress but fearful of not having reached the goal of being on the podium.

On the steps to go on stage, the wait is long. Only the people on the podium will be brought on stage. The stress is at an extreme level. This is it, the first name is announced for third place, then the second for second place. And there, for the first place... my name! 😱 I run to get on the podium filled with joy. Back on the podium and in first place for the second year in a row! 🥳

And now? Will I be selected to represent Belgium at EuroSkills 2025? Answer on December 12, 2024...
